When I was a sophomore in high school, which was about 7 years ago(2009), I wrote to the E! News offices in Los Angeles, and I sent them my resume with no professional experience, along with the first cover letter I’ve ever written. I wrote in my letter how I am the perfect candidate for E!, despite by age (15 years young) and lack of experience. It’s not a surprise that I didn’t hear back… I wasn’t even legally allowed to work without a permit.
It maybe was childish to think that my experience announcing upcoming school events, hosting lunch rallies, and serving in the student body, would qualify me for the position that people dedicate their whole lives for. However, it was not childish of me to set a goal for myself. “A dream” is easier said than done for most people. I set a GOAL for myself to achieve that dream, instead of waiting for a yellow pumpkin to become a golden carriage.
I set a GOAL for myself to attend my DREAM school…. I graduated from New York University in December 2015.
I set a GOAL for myself to study what I am PASSIONATE about… I received my Bachelor’s in Broadcast Journalism and Politics.
I set a GOAL for myself to work for MY IDOL… I worked at Ryan Seacrest Productions the summer of 2014 as a Digital Media Intern. BTW, I was already in the same building as E! News.
I set a GOAL for myself to intern at my DREAM company my final semester of college… I was a production intern for the E! News NY Bureau my final semester at NYU.
So, when I found out about the E! Style Contributor Contest, I saw it as another GOAL to set for myself, not just a dream that I hope will come true.
I have officially submitted myself to the contest and I hope you watch and like what I put together. I will let the video speak for itself, but I would like to add that whether it works out or not, this is definitely not the last GOAL I will set for myself on the path to my dream.
